2019 Visions of the world rendered by 15-year-olds

Once again, this year, our pupils from 3è have designated their 2 favourite articles out of the many that were inspired by the selection of the 20 photographs in the 2019 Bayeux-War correspondent Award held last October. This written work in English was part of the school’s project.
Lola Guilbert, 3B and Jade Masselin, 3C are therefore proud to display their articles to you.

The two photos are respectively AFP2 and AFP16 on this website : https://lemag.nikonclub.fr/selectio...

[AFP2] This photo was taken by Andreas Solano, in Rome, on the 15th of March, 2019. This is a colour photograph.
In the foreground, there is a big banner held by seven young protesters. On the banner, we can see Greta Thunberg’s face. She is wearing a pink vest.
Greta is a young 16-year-old Swedish girl and a militant against global warming. Her face looks harassed, sad and maybe desperate. Under Greta, we can read « Climate Strike » highlighted in pink.
In the middle and in the background, there are a lot of protesters who are very young, it seems. According to me, they are students from high school and university. They hold placards and slogans in English and Italian like « Pollution, Game over » or « Climate Change » etc. They look very motivated to show their determination for this cause.
The principal colours in this shot are the dark grey and the pink of the banner, the green, yellow and brown of the placards.
All these protesters have gathered up in large numbers in the streets of Rome to protest against pollution and climate change. Greta and all these protesters continue to go on this campaign. They just want to save our planet. That’s why I find this photograph particularly conscience-stirring and meaningful because I think ecology is one of the most important issues now. And this picture shows us that we are all concerned and responsible for the future.

[AFP16] This woman looks proud and overjoyed at scoring her first goal in the women’s football world cup quarter final against France.
After the victory against the Netherlands, she refused to go as a captain to receive the cup at the White House from President Trump because he is intolerant of LGBTs (Lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transexuals). The woman’s name is Megan Rapinoe. She is an international football player playing as offensive midfielder. Since 2013, she has been playing for Seattle’s Reign F.C. with the U.S.N.W.T. (The U.S National Women’s Soccer Team), Megan Rapinoe became an olympic champion in 2012 and a world Champion in 2015 and 2019.
She defends the cause of LGBTs because of being a member of this community herself.
